With the perfect little trot, fuzzy features and oreo-inspired coloring, Chief is a Mitey Rider favorite for our smaller riders. Chief now resides with Muffin in the “Jenny Craig” pasture close to the barn.

Chuck is the perfect size for most of our riders, with smooth gaits and a sweet personality. Chuck started his career as an event pony, and now spends his days carefully carrying our Mitey Riders in the ring and on the trail.

Cody is a large-bodied Quarter Horse who is always slow and steady. He never likes to share his spotlight, but he is surefooted, knows how to beg for treats, and has been a reliable Mitey Rider horse for many years. Cody is on lease to Mitey Riders from Dr. Dana and Nancy Hershey.

Elly Mae is a large-bodied draft-cross, intuitive mare with the smoothest trot on the farm. She bonds well with her riders, and takes great care of them in the ring and on the trail. Elly Mae has a super sweet disposition, and lots of knowledge to pass on to her riders. Elly Mae is on lease to Mitey Riders from Jenni Hebel in Kentucky.

General is a full-blooded Percheron who was originally trained for vaulting. Despite his incredible size and strength, he truly is a gentle giant. General is on lease to Mitey Riders from Kari Smith in Waxhaw, NC.

Gracie is a sweet Thoroughbred mare with a unique blaze marketing on her face, and smart mind. She has steady, floaty gaits and is very sensitive the rider’s aids. Gracie is used for our more advanced, independent riders and has immediately bonded with some of our riders in the short time she has been here! We are excited about introducing Gracie into the program for 2010–2011.

Jimmy is one of our older gentlemen on the farm, having originated from the Midwest, and is now retired in the world of equine therapy. His long legs and gentle disposition suit our older riders very well, and he gets long great with all horses and people.

Lexi is an eye-catching mare who had a very successful career as an Event horse and fox-hunter. She is a big-bodied bay with a kind eye and we are excited about having her as part of our program for the 2010–2011 season. Lexi is on lease to Mitey Riders from Susan Rose Marcus.

MacGyver is known for his impressions of “Oscar the Grouch,” but once you get to know him, he is a real sweetheart. MacGyver was a show horse for many years before he was donated to Mitey Riders from the Agres Family.

Otis is a quiet and steady Southern Gentleman, suitable for anyone, but great at helping more timid riders gain confidence. He was a show horse for many years before joining the Mitey Rider program. Otis is on lease to Mitey Riders from the Niswonger Family.

Pepper is one of our MVP horses on the farm, as he is responsible for carrying our most affected riders. From children with severe to cerebral palsy to the extreme end of the Autism spectrum, Pepper is calm, safe and steady — always. Pepper is on lease to Mitey Riders from Terry Cochran.

Red is one of the longest-standing members of our equine family at Mitey Riders — having been part of the program for over 10 years. Red is a HUGE favorite among riders, volunteers and staff alike. His inquisitive expression, love of peanut butter crackers and steadfast personality charms everyone.

Snow Lilly was a fancy show pony before she joined Mitey Riders years ago, and now she is a favorite among everyone. Her desire to roll in anything she can find has earned her the appropriate nickname of “Dirt Lilly” most of the time. Snow Lilly is on lease to Mitey Riders from the Oakley Family.

Sugar is a petite Welsh Pony with unique peach-colored dapples on her coat. She is great for our smaller riders, and has a mischievous side, too! Sugar is sweet as can be, and loves to be with her friends, Snow Lilly and Chief in their paddock.
